New Zealand Organisation Structure

WorldSkills NZ would not survive without the invaluable work of hundreds of volunteers across the country.

Board Of Trustees - Meeting bi-monthly, The Board of Trustees oversee the direction of the WorldSkills organisation and work with the Chief Executive Officer. The Board consists of key members of Industry, Sponsors, Training Providers and Industry Training Organisations.

National Office - responsible for the day-to-day running of the organisation. The Chief Executive Officer and the Events Coordinator are full time employees and the hub of information for the organisation. They provide the frame work and support network for the regions, information dissemination to each of the regions, production of promotional material, newsletters, attain and maintain national sponsors, and maintain contact with the International Organisation.

National Competition Committee - This valuable committee meets in the lead up and duration of National Competitions. The committee has two functions - dealing with marketing, invitations and social events surrounding the National Event, and running the actual competition itself including the preparation of the work space, tooling, materials, competitor briefing, coordination of judges and the running of the actual 3 day competition. The next NZ final is scheduled for September 2012.

Technical Committee - This committee consists of several key WorldSkills advocates who have been involved 'hands on' with competitions over the years, and all are past New Zealand representatives in their respective fields. Their role is to specifically address technical aspects of the competitions, look at the appointments of National Skill Experts (one for each skill category), assess and appoint regional and national projects, discuss competition and technical related issues. The committee meets on a regular basis.

Regional Committees - These committees are vital to the attainment of top quality competitors and the future of WorldSkills NZ as they coordinate each regional WorldSkill competition. They consist of a Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and coordinators for each of the skill categories that they will run. Each region is self sufficient and works very hard to maintain regional industry contacts and coordinate the regional competition, which requires a location, competitors, materials, programmes, catering, judges and local sponsors for funding, materials, and expertise.

The WorldSkills regional committee will then continue to work with their Regional Representative Team to upskill and prepare them for the National Finals.

The next round of regional events will take place between March and July 2012.
