Waikato – Wintec Rotokauri Campus

This year Wintec Rotokauri Campus will again host the Regional competition for WorldSkills New Zealand and run skill competitions in Plumbing and Heating.

Involvement in the skill/industry: Roland has been involved with WorldSkills for over 30 years.  He comes from an Engineering background, having completed an Engineering apprenticeship and going on to run his own engineering business.  Roland has had a varied career, including owning an export berry farm, working in the printing industry and building and renovating houses. He has worked at Wintec for 35 years and is now the Principal Academic Tutor in the Engineering Department. As well as running the regional competitions, Roland has been involved in WorldSkills at National and International level, as a New Zealand Skill Manager for both Machining and Polymechanics; International Expert, Deputy Chief Expert and Chief Expert for Polymechanics and latterly as the International Skill Manager for Polymechanics.
