WorldSkills NZ joins GAN

8 June 2021

WorldSkills New Zealand is proud to be a member of the Global Apprenticeship Network (GAN).

GAN is a business-driven alliance that promotes work-based learning and apprenticeships to bridge the gap between current workplace and future skills. The alliance has a two-fold focus. Firstly, its role is to encourage businesses to implement work-based learning programmes, and secondly to support an effective policy environment at government level.

Josh Williams, GAN New Zealand Country manager is a long-time advocate for work-based learning and apprenticeships in New Zealand. He says the GAN network provides a treasure trove of resources for New Zealand to draw from.
“GAN delivers workplace education and training to align skills with the demands of the labour market. Through our GAN network around the globe, we can share industry best practice, put in place new workplace models and adapt and enhance New Zealand’s skills activities. Equally we can share our practices with the rest of the world.”

“We are particularly excited to be working alongside WorldSkills New Zealand to raise the profile of skills excellence in New Zealand. Worldskills is an outstanding international movement to promote skills excellence and how skills underpin individual and collective success.”

WorldSkills New Zealand General Manager Carl Rankin is enthusiastic about the alliance. “It is a pleasure to announce our affiliation with GAN and work alongside Josh Williams. The complementary focuses of WorldSkills New Zealand and GAN will help both of our organisations, and the people and industries we serve, gain greater momentum in the rich space of vocational training.”
